Are You Going To Heaven?

Some say you need to be a good person to get into heaven.
What do you think?  Are you a good person?
Answer these questions honestly.

  1. Have you ever told a lie?
  2. Have you ever stolen anything? (no matter how small)
  3. Have you ever looked at another with lust in your heart?
  4. Have you ever taken the Lords name in vain?

If you answered these questions honestly you can see that you can't keep at least four of the Ten Commandments.  If God judged you by the Ten Commandments would you be guilty or innocent?  What would be the sentence?

But there is hope.

A man has been found guilty of a crime, and the judge gives him a fine of $50,000. The man stands before the judge and says I can’t pay this fine.  But just at that time a man walks into the courtroom and says I will pay the fine for him.

Pretty outrageous, to think that someone you didn’t know would pay a fine for you.  But that is exactly what Jesus did for all of us.  God sent His son to die in your place, to take your punishment for sin.

You do not get to heaven by anything you do. You do not get to heaven by being a member of a church, or by being sincere.  What must you do? You must believe in Jesus alone; you must trust Him alone; you must accept Jesus’ sacrifice for your sins alone.

What To Do

Though there are no rules or steps to becoming a Christian, the following is a biblical outline of what you need to know and do:

  1. All have sinned and come short of the glory of God. (Rom. 3:23)
  2. You must turn away from your sin (Acts 17:30,)
  3. The wages of sin is death  (Rom. 6:23a)
  4. The gift of God is eternal life (Rom. 6:23b)
  5. You must know that Jesus is the only way to God: (John 14:6).
  6. While we were yet sinners Christ died for us.  (Rom. 5:28)
  7. Who ever calls on the Lord shall be saved (Rom. 10:13)
  8. This last "step" is called receiving Jesus.

John 1:12 says, "Yet to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God.

If you want to become a Christian you must accept Jesus as your Savior. You must talk to Him and ask Him to forgive you of your sins, come into your heart and become your Lord and Savior. He will. He loves you. Salvation is only a prayer of faith away. If this page has helped you in anyway, please email us and let us know. God Bless.  cbcoffice@cbcpittsfield.org
